“A federal labor board official in Chicago has approved a mail ballot unionization election for a group of Instacart in-store shoppers at a Jewel-Osco store in Chicago. The petition was filed in April by the United Food and Commercial Workers. The Instacart operation in Chicago, formally Maplebear Inc., argued that the election should be postponed indefinitely because workers will be distracted from their “essential” work during the coronavirus pandemic, but the judge disagreed Thursday.”
